The current divorce laws in this country are antiquated. They do nothing but add extra conflict where there is already too much conflict. Forcing people to allege that their spouse has committed adultery or behaved unreasonably just so that they can divorce does nothing but impede their ability to reach an agreement about their children or finances.
No-fault divorce is already possible in many countries throughout the world. Introducing it in this country would not cause an increase in divorces; it’s already easy to get divorced, you just have to be unpleasant to each other.
No fault divorce would allow people to divorce with dignity. It’s a better way.
I support Resolution’s call for reform of the law so that no-fault divorce is possible.
